Train disruption in South East over bank holiday

Engineering work on Southeastern and Southern Railway lines will impact services across the three days

Engineering work taking place on Southeastern and Southern Railway lines will affect rail services over the bank holiday weekend.

Southeastern said the planned work, carried out by Network Rail, was to "maintain and improve" rail infrastructure, adding it was usually done during weekends or bank holidays.

The train operator said services at Charing Cross, Waterloo East, London Bridge and Cannon Street would be affected.

On Saturday, there are no trains from Charing Cross or Waterloo East, and a reduced service is available from London Bridge and Cannon Street, but most trains will run to and from Victoria.

Engineering work will also impact services via Pluckley and Gillingham on Sunday.

Southeastern said there will be no trains from Charing Cross, Waterloo East or Cannon Street, and a reduced service available from London Bridge on Sunday.

Most trains will run to and from Victoria, while buses replace trains between Meopham/Strood and Rainham, as well as the service between Headcorn and Ashford, it added.

On Saturday and Monday only, the following Southeastern train services are impacted:

  • Paddock Wood Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Ramsgate / Dover Priory via Tonbridge will be diverted to and from London Victoria and will stop additionally at Hildenborough
  • Hastings Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Hastings will run to and from London Bridge and run nonstop between London Bridge and Tonbridge via an alternative route. However, trains that usually only run between London Charing Cross and Tunbridge Wells will not run
  • Maidstone East Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Maidstone East will run from London Victoria, and call additionally at Bromley South
  • Bexleyheath Line: Trains between London Victoria and Gravesend via Bexleyheath will run normally. However, services between London Cannon Street and Slade Green, and London Charing Cross and Dartford via Bexleyheath will not run, so trains on the Bexleyheath line will run every 30 minutes
  • Woolwich Line: Trains between London Cannon Street and Gravesend via Woolwich Arsenal will run at different times than usual, and will run via Greenwich
  • Grove Park Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Sevenoaks will be diverted to run to and from London Victoria. It will run nonstop between London Victoria and Petts Wood

Southern Railway

Southern Railway said trains which normally run between London Victoria and Hastings, Eastbourne and Littlehampton will be diverted to run between London Bridge and Hastings, Eastbourne and Littlehampton throughout the bank holiday weekend.

On Sunday, these services will only run between London Bridge and Three Bridges.

Trains that usually run between London Victoria and Reigate will be amended to run between Redhill and Reigate only.

Passengers are advised to use Southern or Thameslink trains to travel between London and Redhill.

On Saturday and Monday, trains between London Victoria and Uckfield will run between East Croydon and Uckfield only.
