Sea warning lifted after sewer pipe burst

Warnings to stay out of the sea off a Kent beach have been lifted after a sewer pipe burst.

Beachgoers were told to steer clear of the water at Seabrook beach in what Folkestone & Hythe District Council called a "precautionary measure".

The warning was after a sewer burst at Sandgate Road, in Seabrook, Southern Water said.

The firm said it did not find any "visible debris" on Seabrook beach and that it had acted straight away in an attempt to limit environmental impact.

"Modelling shows water quality briefly dropped below 'good' yesterday evening but recovered by 8pm," Southern Water said.

The firm apologised for any disruption.

The Environment Agency urged people to get in touch if they suspected pollution.
