Man released without charge over car park death

A man who was arrested over the unexplained death of a man has been released without charge.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a 40-year-old man was found deceased on the ground floor of Moorfield Car Park in Truro on Monday.

A 44-year-old man from Truro was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of assault grievous bodily harm, administering a noxious substance and theft, but police said he was released from custody the next day and was "no longer linked to the investigation".

Detectives said extensive inquires were ongoing to establish the circumstances of the man's death.

Officers are continuing to review CCTV footage to trace the man's movements in the day leading up to his death.

The police cordon and car park closure has since been lifted after the conclusion of forensic work, said the force.

Senior investigating officer Det Insp Jon Bray urged anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area between Sunday afternoon and 10:45 BST on Monday to contact police.
