A business owner said not being able to make the best use of their site has contributed to a decision to close with immediate effect.

Holme Grown Farm Shop and Fauvic Nurseries owner Stanley Payne said he told his staff earlier the family-owned company and its associated cafe in Jersey would be shutting down.

Payne said the firm, which had been operating for a century, had been "swimming against a tide" and was treated badly by successive governments over plans for the 120-acre site.

Plans included wanting to demolish four redundant greenhouses to build a nursing home, which was refused by planners in 2023. The States of Jersey have been approached for comment.
