Sexual assault prompts warning from police

Police are urging the public to be vigilant after a woman was seriously sexually assaulted in Nottingham.

The victim was attacked in Forest Road West, near Arboretum, at about 01:40 BST on Sunday.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s or 30s with short black wavy hair, clean-shaven, about 5ft 6ins (1.65m) tall, of a regular build and wearing a light-blue top with dark trousers and trainers.

Officers asked anyone using the arboretum to "remain aware of their surroundings" and report anything that gives cause for concern.

Det Insp Rachel Mayfield said: "This was an extremely serious and distressing incident, and our thoughts remain with the victim as she continues to receive support from specially trained officers.

"We understand that news of this offence will cause concern within the community, and we want to reassure residents that a dedicated team of detectives is working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances and identify those responsible.

"This incident took place a short distance away from Nottingham Arboretum and we would ask anyone using the park to remain aware of their surroundings and report anything that gives them cause for concern."
