Red Arrows confirm flight at air show

The Royal Air Force's aeronautic display team the Red Arrows are set to open the 2026 Guernsey Battle of Britain Air Display in St Peter Port, it has been confirmed.

It follows the success of last year's event which moved to the evening to make it easier for more spectators to attend.

Event organiser Natalie Davidson said the team was due to being seven aircraft, adding that "they never fail to impress".

The show runs from 18:00 to 20:00 BST on Wednesday 9 September and includes a Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the BAC Jet Provost, a British jet trainer aircraft.

The team has had to pull out of several key events this summer after being stranded in Canada due to bad weather.

Davidson said, once the Red Arrows were confirmed, the show was "built around them".

She added the precision of the display is "just extraordinary", adding: "We do seem to have a fairly regular slot with them."

She added: "The fact that we're a mid-week display helps with that."

Another attraction is a Battle of Britain Hurricane fighter aircraft owned by islander James Brown.

A fireworks display is set to conclude the 2026 event.

Flying display director Barry Neal said: "Moving the display to the evening enabled us to also include a pyro display team which has been well received."

There were plans for a food and drink village at Crown Pier and Davidson added "all along the east coast is a great spot".
