Crews tackle outdoor fire near King Power stadium
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue ServiceA large outdoor fire involving grass, shrubbery and trees near to the King Power stadium in Leicester was started accidentally, firefighters said.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the Wolverton Road and Watkin Road area of the city on Saturday afternoon.
Crews from both Wigston and central fire stations attended.
A spokesperson for the authority said: "Crews were faced with a rapidly developing fire in very dry conditions."
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue ServiceThe spokesperson added that "with the ground, vegetation and trees currently so dry, fires can spread incredibly quickly and unpredictably".
"What may start as a small fire can very quickly become a large and dangerous incident, putting people, property, wildlife and our firefighters at risk."
