Council elects youngest ever chairman
WychavonWychavon District Council has announced its youngest ever chairman, making him the third "youngest ever" politician to be elected in Worcestershire this week.
Councillor Gregory Wilkins, 24, will take on the role of chairman for 12 months, and will be joined by councillor John Clatworthy, who was elected vice chairman.
They will replace the outgoing councillor Mark Goodge, for whom Conservative Wilkins served as vice chairman.
The announcement comes just days after 26-year-old Tor Pingree was elected the Mayor of Worcester and 28 year-old George Connolly was elected Wyre Forest District Council's chairman.
Pingree, discussing her role as mayor, said: "I am very pleased to be the 18th female Mayor of Worcester and probably the youngest yet."
She added it was an honour to be able to represent the city she grew up in.
Connolly, who was elected as Kidderminster's youngest ever mayor when he was 27, said: "I am extremely honoured to have been elected chairman of Wyre Forest District Council.
"It is a real privilege to represent both the council and the communities we serve, locally and beyond."
