Dangerous driving arrest as man killed by car

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was struck by a car and died.

It happened at about 05:30 BST on the A49 Preston Road in Coppull, Lancashire, police said.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s, suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a Tesla and was pronounced dead at the scene, the force said.

A 24-year-old man is being held in custody for questioning. The road remains closed while investigation work is carried out.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam/CCTV/doorbell footage from the area, has been urged to contact Lancashire Police.
