Plans for 24/7 prescription machine at pharmacy

Plans to install a 24-hour prescription collection machine at a pharmacy have been submitted.

An application for the automated service at Queen's Road Pharmacy in St Helier, Jersey, was put forward on 23 July and is pending consideration.

The proposal, featuring the installation of a dropped kerb to enable disabled access, aimed to help customers collect prescriptions outside normal trading hours, the application said.

The plans also include new metal bollards adjacent to the dispensary, along with a new light to improve visibility and safety for users. People have until 13 August to submit any comments around the plans.

Queens Road Pharmacy can be found on the ground floor of Queens Road Health Centre - a multi‑use healthcare building which includes a GP practice.

The proposal said customers currently could "only collect prescriptions during opening hours, which can be inconvenient if, for example, they work nightshifts".

It said the new unit offered a "simple and flexible alternative, reducing the need to visit the pharmacy at set times".
