Two people have been arrested after police carried out a drugs raid at a property in Mansfield.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers executed a warrant at an address on Cavendish Road at about 12:00 BST on Wednesday.

A suspect ran to the bathroom, a force statement said, but a package suspected to contain heroin was found in a waste pipe.

Officers also found "evidence of Class A drugs", unlicensed medication and "a large quantity of cash".

A 53-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, possession of an offensive weapon and the supply of unlicensed medication.

Police also seized mobile phones from the property, which are being analysed "to determine the scale of this operation".

Insp Katie Eustace, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Thanks to community intelligence, we were able to execute a warrant at an address in Cavendish Road and shut down this operation for good."
