Former student denies university crossbow attack
BBCA former University of Surrey student has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of a staff member with a crossbow.
Almunthir Daqamah, 21, is accused of trying to kill safety officer Robert Tytler at the Manor Park Student Village in Guildford in June.
Daqamah, who appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday via video link, is due to stand trial in January 2027.
Students previously told the BBC that they were left "very shaken" by the incident.
Tytler was previously described by university students as "very nice" and a "familiar face around campus".
Surrey Police said Daqamah was a Saudi national. This information has been released by the police consistent with national guidelines.
