Arrest after worker dies at Evri parcel hub
GoogleA man has been arrested in connection with the death of a worker at an Evri parcel distribution hub.
A man in his 30s was reportedly hit by a vehicle at the centre in Hoyland, Barnsley, at about 20:00 BST on Thursday and died at the scene, according to South Yorkshire Police.
A 34-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, remained in custody, a force spokesperson said.
A spokesperson for Evri said the delivery company was providing support to the victim's family, team members and the police.
"We can confirm that, tragically, one of our team members passed away following an accident at our Barnsley hub," they said.
"Our thoughts go out to their family and all those impacted by this devastating news."
The Health and Safety Executive said it was aware of the incident and was working alongside South Yorkshire Police.
