Graeme Hilditch A grassy coastal path leads along a cliff overlooking a rocky cove at sunset. The sun hangs low over the sea, casting golden light across the water and surrounding hillsides. Stone walls and ruins stand on the right, while dark rocks line the shoreline below beneath a sky streaked with clouds. — Graeme Hilditch visited Findlater Castle on holiday, in anticipation of the site being used in the upcoming film, The Odyssey.

Maureen Henry A squirrel is looking directly at the camera while it's paws are perched on a clear plastic bird feeder holding a mix of seeds. The feeder is attached to a window and the garden outside has grass, plant pots of purple flowers and trees visible, along with the side wall of the house. — Maureen Henry from East Kilbride sent in this picture of a cheeky squirrel enjoying its stolen breakfast from a bird feeder.

Mags Blyth A vast pink sunrise above the water, which is reflecting the colour, is captured from on board a boat. — This gorgeous sunrise was snapped by Mags Blyth at 04:18. She said she captured it as she was leaving Orkney, when "the sun was just appearing above the cliffs at Marwick Head".

Genevieve Guy An unimpressed looking Beagle dog is peering down at a large spider crab on a pebbly beach. Gentle waves are visible in the background. — "Bowie the Beagle inspecting this Spider Crab on the beach at Achnafad, Kintyre. He quickly decided they weren't going to be friends," said Genevieve Guy from Clachan.

Lynsey Bell A large grey rock in a body of water. There are dramatic clouds and birds flying close to the rock, and a white lighthouse in the middle of the scene. — Lynsey Bell sent in this dramatic picture of Bass Rock taken from Tantallon Castle.

Hari Shankaran A close up shot of a red ladybird sitting in the middle of a white and yellow flower. — "Nature's perfect contrast," says Archana Devi from South Gyle, Edinburgh. She said her husband captured this image while out for a walk.

Saman Jalal A rocky shoreline curves along the edge of calm water beneath dark storm clouds. Small waves break onto a narrow beach, while a distant coastline is visible across the water under the atmospheric grey sky. — Saman Jalal could see the Black Isles from Nairn, under some very moody grey clouds.

Eric Niven A butterfly with orange, black and white patterned wings rests on a purple thistle flower, with green plants blurred in the background. — While Eric Niven cycled near Arbroath, this painted lady butterfly was making a much longer journey, migrating from North Africa.

Pathum Vithana A calm loch is beneath dramatic misty green hills. There are three small boats on the water and some trees in the front corner of the scene. — Pathum Vithana captured this quiet, misty scene over Loch Shiel in Glenfinnan.

Frances Cooper A close up of a lily amongst a throng of colourful flowers, with more lilies and tall pink and purple stems visible in the background too. — "Taken in the glorious walled garden of Gordon Castle in Fochabers on Saturday. The riot of colour was stunning!" said Frances Cooper.

Michaela Murray A bright turquoise and orange kingfisher is perched on a twig that zig zags across the frame. The bird has a small fish in its beak. — Michaela Murray spotted this kingfisher on the River Almond in Perth.

Samantha Christie A Highland cow stands in a grassy field, facing the camera. It's tongue is curled up over its nose and it has long curved horns. — This Highland cow caught Samantha Christie's eye at Heads of Ayr farm park when she was visiting from Kirkcaldy.

Ewan Halcro A lone puffin stands on a rocky ledge above the sea as waves break over rocks below, creating white foam across the water. — Ewan Halcro spotted this puffin flapping its wings at the Brough of Birsay in Orkney.

Margaret Howie The Waverley paddle steamer sails across a choppy sea under a grey sky. White steam billows from the vessel’s black-and-white funnels, and passengers line the decks. Two tall masts display maritime flags, including Scottish saltire flags. A small boat follows behind on the left, while faint outlines of distant hills or islands are visible on the horizon. — Margaret Howie sent in this picture of the Waverley paddle steamer approaching Ayr Harbour.

Mairi Henderson A robin is perched on the edge of a plate that has a fork and small piece of cake on it.
