The French government says the number of people arrested during a week of student protests has passed five thousand. Most of those detained are teenagers. There were violent scenes outside schools across France on Friday as students clashed with riot police.

Also in the programme: Spain's parliament has rejected a series of measures aimed at tackling the country's housing crisis; and we hear from the Indian singer-songwriter Anuv Jain who is on his first world tour.

Joining Julian Worricker on the panel are Jemima Kelly, columnist for the Financial Times newspaper, and Fuad Musallam, lecturer in anthropology at University College London.
