Eddie and Emma are impressed at Little Grange when George straps the baby to his chest in his sling, calming him. It’s a little crowded at home, and Eddie says they’re always welcome to come up to Grange Farm for some space. She promises to bring round some Victoria sponge which she’s made as Ed’s birthday cake.

When Eddie arrives at The Green bearing a supply of Clarrie’s home-baked food, George sensitively tells him that Amber’s not sure about Joe as a first name for the baby. She wants something more unusual. To George’s relief, Eddie isn’t upset. Later, George shares that he doesn’t think he’s doing a great job as a parent but Emma boosts him, also reminding him of all the support he has.

Brian asks Adam how Xander’s birthday went. He has a large present to bring over, but Adam says not to, saying Xander has already had an overwhelming amount of gifts. Ignoring this, Brian drops the present round to Ian, who is impressed to see it’s a child-sized gardening station, compete with mini greenhouse. Although enthusiastic about the gift, Ian’s less so about an insistent Brian wanting to come in and assemble the set. Later, when Adam sees the gardening set, he loves it, but is then astonished to hear it’s from Brian, and that he defied his wishes. Although Ian tries to defend Brian and suggests Adam builds bridges now, Adam is resolute. They can’t let Xander see the gift. He doesn’t want Brian in their son’s life.
