Di pipo of Badawa, one village wey dey for Bodinga Local Govment Area of Sokoto State, northwest Nigeria, dey call on authorities to urgently repair dia primary healthcare centre, wey dem say don remain for bad condition for many years.

Badawa Primary Healthcare Centre, wey residents say na one important facility for di community, don dey neglected afta one strong windstorm damage parts of di building almost ten years ago.

Since den, villagers say no major renovation don take place despite several complaints and visits by govment officials.

According to residents, almost all parts of di healthcare facility don spoil.

One resident tok say, "Many rooms no get roof again, walls don crack, and only few sections of di hospital still dey usable for attending to patients."

Dem add say di situation don make healthcare delivery difficult for both workers and patients.

Villagers say di dem build di healthcare centre around 2009 and bin expect to provide medical services for Badawa and surrounding communities.

However, dem accuse authorities of failing to properly maintain di facility afta construction.

According to residents, thousands of patients dey visit di healthcare centre every month.

"Apart from pipo from Badawa village, many patients dey also come from neighbouring villages to seek treatment sake say na di closest healthcare facility for di area" one resident tok.

Despite di high number of patients, residents say only two doctors dey attend to pipo for di damaged healthcare centre.

According to di residents, patients dey receive treatment on mats spread on di floor sake of say di hospital beds and oda essential medical equipment no dey available.

Residents add say dis situation dey affect both ordinary patients and pregnant women wey need urgent medical attention.

One of di major concerns for villagers be di condition wey women dey face during childbirth. According to dem, several women don give birth on mats placed directly on di floor becos labour wards and hospital beds no dey available.

One elderly woman, Rabi, wey dey volunteer to assist pregnant women during delivery for di healthcare centre, describe di situation as very worrying. According to her, di hospital don remain for dis bad state for many years despite promise of renovation.

"Dis hospital don tey wey e spoil. Pipo bin happy wen dem bin start dey build some new parts for one side, and we tink say dem wan renovate am, but till now dem never repair am. Dis hospital don pass ten years for dis bad condition," she tok.

Rabi explain say lack of equipment and hospital beds dey force dem to use mats for women wey dey labour.

"When pregnant women come, dem go line up and when e reach dia turn, dem go explain wetin dey worry dem.

Somen wey dey labour, na di rooms wey still get roof we dey use. We go spread mat for dem on top di floor sake say no bed dey. Since no bed dey, wetin we go do?" she ask.

According to her, she don assist five women deliver babies inside di healthcare centre under dis difficult conditions.

"As e dey now, I don help five women deliver for dis hospital. We don kontinu dey complain and govment officials dey come hia dey see di situation. Dem even bring mats and some hospital equipment give us."

During BBC News Pidgin visit to di primary healthcare centre, our crew try several times to enter inside di building to see di condition of di facility. But, one of di hospital staff bin refuse to allow us enter di building to observe di state of di healthcare centre. But BBC Still manage to get some foto of di facility.

Residents say although govment officials don visit di facility and provide some mats and medical items, di assistance no solve di ogbonge wahala of di damage building and lack of proper infrastructure.

Di villagers dey appeal to Sokoto State Govment and relevant authorities to urgently renovate di healthcare centre, provide beds and medical equipment, and restore di facility so wey residents fit get access to safe and proper healthcare services.

However, as of di time of dis report BBC News Pidgin no fit reach di Councillor of Badawa, Nasiru Abubakar, and Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar, as dem no answer di calls and text messages wey BBC News Pidgin send dem wey concern di condition of Badawa Primary Healthcare Centre.
