Striker Callum Marshall scored his first goal for Luton to secure a draw with promoted Notts County at Kenilworth Road.
The hosts were dealt a huge blow early on when Jordan Clark suffered a clash of heads with Darius Lipsiuc and had to be carried off on a stretcher.
County's Scott Robertson had a 20-yard strike tipped over by Josh Keeley before Luton broke the deadlock after 42 minutes when James Gibbons was penalised for handball and Nahki Wells converted the spot-kick.
The Magpies were behind for just three minutes as Callum Roberts' 20-yard half volley deflected into the bottom corner just before the break.
In the second period, Jake Richards and Gideon Kodua fired over for the home side, while at the other end Luka Smyth's header was punched behind by Keeley.
County led just past the hour mark thanks to Ollie Cooper's astute finish from Nick Tsaroulla's pass, but Luton equalised seven minutes later, Marshall beating James Belshaw from just outside the box.
Kasey Palmer almost made it 3-2, Belshaw saving well, and Kal Naismith shot over while Luton were left frustrated with two late penalty appeals turned down.
