Doncaster and Barnsley registered their first points of the League One season but are still searching for wins after this goalless stalemate.

The South Yorkshire rivals both lost on the opening weekend and Doncaster came closest to securing victory in this derby when captain Owen Bailey hit the crossbar in the 55th minute.

Rovers began brightly and Bailey headed over a cross from Hakeeb Adelakun, who then saw a low right-foot shot tipped around a post by Rogan Ravenhill.

Jack Senior's corner was then headed wide by Jordan Thomas before Barnsley gradually established a foothold on proceedings.

Tykes defender Tyrese Noslin fired into the side netting before Bailey had a shot well saved by Ravenhill after connecting with a right-wing cross by Alfie May.

George Broadbent then threaded a superb through ball to May, who showed delightful footwork to beat a Barnsley defender before clipping a left-footed shot wide of the far post.

Ten minutes after the break, May's left-wing cross was met by Bailey, whose low shot rebounded off the bar as neither side could break the deadlock despite late Barnsley pressure.
