Oldham halted their worrying slide down the table by thrashing Cheltenham for their first victory in seven league games.

Micky Mellon's side, who had scored only one goal in their previous four league matches, found the net three times in the opening 41 minutes.

Calum Kavanagh opened the scoring, turning in Favour Fawunwi's shot, which was going wide, for his fifth goal of the season.

They doubled the lead when left-back Jamie Robson headed home at the far post from Fawunmi's corner.

Stoke loanee Fawunmi was then put through by Kavanagh and netted his second goal for the club.

Cheltenham pulled one back in first-half stoppage time when Freddy Willcox fired home from a corner for his first senior goal.

However, Robson scored Oldham's fourth goal late on with a low drive into the bottom far corner.
