    Eala 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 Swiatek

Iga Swiatek gets a nice ovation as she walks off, her Wimbledon title defence now over.

Whether the Polish third seed heard it at all, I'm not so sure, she marched off with a face like thunder.

She knows she was a long way from her best but take nothing away from how good Alexandra Eala was.

  2. Game and second set - Ferypublished at 15:57 BST

    Bergs 6-2 5-7 0-0 Fery*

    Wow!

A double fault and Arthur Fery has taken the second set.

The Briton is up and running in this match.

A huge roar erupts close to court 18 and if I turn my head I can catch a glimpse of Henman Hill.

There are people leaping up and down with their arms in the air, cheering. Big Alex Eala fans I guess!

  4. Break points Ferypublished at 15:56 BST

    *Bergs 6-2 5-6 Fery

With that tie-break guarantee in the bag, Arthur Fery is playing with a little bit of freedom and gets to 30-0. A break here would take his confidence levels through the roof.

Zizou Bergs hits back for 30-15 but Fery gets up the net to volley a winner for 40-15 and earns two set points.

Well I did say this would be the match of the day! I felt Alexandra Eala had her chance. That first set was the best first set of the championships for me. She is one her knees, what a moment.

She is the first Filipino in the game to beat a Wimbledon champion and the first Filipino to reach the fourth round here. She is the real deal. Oh boy, her future is bright!

  6. Williams sisters withdraw from doublespublished at 15:53 BST
    Breaking

Serena Williams has withdrawn from the doubles alongside her sister Venus after failing to recover from a knee injury.

Williams, 44, suffered the injury during her first-round defeat by Maya Joint last week in her first competitive match in nearly four years.

The pair were scheduled to play in the first round today against Solana Sierra and Camilla Osorio.

In a post on Instagram, the 23-time Grand Slam winner says she is "heartbroken" to withdraw, but told fans to "stay tuned", suggesting she may continue her career when she is fully fit.

"I’m heartbroken to have to withdraw from doubles. Coming back to compete again has been a gift, and the opportunity to play alongside Venus once more meant the world to me," said Williams,

"I did everything I could to be ready, but unfortunately my knee just isn’t ready to compete.""I’m especially grateful to tournament director, Jamie Baker, and the entire tournament team for giving me every opportunity to play here.

"Thank you to the fans for your incredible support and for making this comeback so meaningful…All I can say is stay tuned to a city near you…"The photo of the syringes shows the fluid they drained from my knee after my singles match…yikes! The good news is my knee shouldn’t swell or collect that much fluid again.

"The bad news is that, as hard as I tried, I just wasn’t able to get it ready for doubles."

    Eala 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 Swiatek

Alexandra Eala has dethroned the Wimbledon champion!

A stunning performance from the 21-year-old Filipino and she has beaten Iga Swiatek in straight sets.

What a match, what an upset - Eala is in tears as she takes the acclaim of the Centre Court crowd.

It was never going to be easy to see off the defending champ and a six-time Grand Slam winner but she was able to stave off four break points before slapping a forehand winner into the corner to seal the win.

  8. Fery holdspublished at 15:52 BST

    *Bergs 6-2 5-6 Fery

Arthur Fery gets to advantage with a lovely two-handed backhand winner down the line.

    And there is the hold!

The British wildcard is guaranteed at least a tie-break for this second set.

    Bergs 6-2 5-5 Fery*

Zizou Bergs unforced errors are starting to creep up and he brings up number 20 to hand Arthur Fery a 30-15 lead.

Fery puts a huge serve right on the T to get with a point of the hold but then loses his footing when approaching the net to keep the door open at 40-30.

There's another mistake at the net from Fery as he fails to get under the ball and it bounces back at him.

A big few points on the horizon here.

  10. Swiatek saves match pointspublished at 15:50 BST

    Eala 7-6 (11-9) 5-2 Swiatek*

Two match points saved and Iga Swiatek is clinging on.

She's had three break points as well and here comes another one...

  11. Bergs holdspublished at 15:47 BST

    Bergs 6-2 5-5 Fery*

Zizou Bergs should be under a little pressure as he serves to stay in the set but he isn't showing it. The Belgian races to a 40-0 lead before he's pegged back to 40-15 by a lovely Arthur Fery lob.

Bergs gets the hold on the next point.

  12. Fery 'not getting bullied around the court'published at 15:47 BST

    *Bergs 6-2 4-5 Fery

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC One

Fery's serving has been better. His movement has been better. His groundstrokes have been deeper.

He has just been more accurate, and he is not getting bulled around the court like he was in the first set.

    *Eala 7-6 (11-9) 5-2 Swiatek

    Greg Rusedski
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

That was tactically brilliant from Alexandra Eala. She held the corner because she knows Iga Swiatek can only drive volley cross-court. She forced the unforced error there.

  14. Fery holdspublished at 15:44 BST

    *Bergs 6-2 4-5 Fery

Zizou Bergs has been pretty consistent with his drop shots today but he gets this one all wrong and it's a really inviting bounce for Arthur Fery to smash back for 30-0.

Fery looks on track for his own hold to love until Bergs hits a winner into the corner.

Fery gets there at the next attempt to keep the scoreboard pressure on the Belgian.

  15. 'It is tough to handle'published at 15:42 BST

    Bergs 6-2 4-4 Fery*

    Nick Lester

A valuable tool that body serve today for Bergs. Fery is stepping in but he just doesn't have the time, it is tough to handle.

  16. Bergs holdspublished at 15:41 BST

    Bergs 6-2 4-4 Fery*

Zizou Bergs gets a hold to love.

That game feels so out of kilter with the rest of this set when every game has been a real slog.

Into the business end of the set now.

  17. 'Swiatek has to notice'published at 15:40 BST

    *Eala 7-6 (11-9) 5-2 Swiatek

    Greg Rusedski
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

It just looks like Alexandra Eala is limping around a little bit. It looks like she's struggling with her legs. They have got to be heavy at the minute because that first set was brutal.

This is something Iga Swiatek has to notice. She should be looking to make the points longer, make it more physical and ask the question.

  18. Eala to serve for the matchpublished at 15:40 BST

    *Eala 7-6 (11-9) 5-2 Swiatek

Alexandra Eala breaks and will serve for the match.

A game that just about sums it up for Iga Swiatek this afternoon, especially in the second set.

Two double faults, a wayward forehand and then a routine volley at the net sent long.

Huge moment for Eala coming up. Swiatek is livid with herself.

  19. Fery holdspublished at 15:38 BST

    *Bergs 6-2 3-4 Fery

Arthur Fery hasn't had a huge amount of success with his backhand but he uses it at the right time to come up with a winner before holding.

Fery is firmly in this set.

  20. 'Encouraging signs'published at 15:38 BST

    Bergs 6-2 3-3 Fery*

    Kyle Edmund
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arthur Fery is creating his opportunities now, something which he wasn't doing in the first set.

That's what he's got to do to try to put himself back into this match. You can't always guarantee the break, but as long as you're putting yourself in good positions then that's a good sign. He has established himself and he looks more comfortable on court now.

    Encouraging signs in this set.
