Bristol City may have lost but they were treated to something special from Scott Twine.

Well, we say special but this is just another day for the free-kick specialist.

Since December 2020, Scott Twine has more goals from a direct free-kick than anyone else across the top four leagues in English Football.

He has 18. The second highest is James Ward-Prowse with eight.

Scott Parker had a dramatic introduction to life as West Ham United boss this evening as his side came back from 3-0 down to get a point on the road at Cardiff.

Still, he's seeing it all as a learning curve.

Bear with us, we'll be hearing from West Ham's new manager Scott Parker in just a moment...

Bristol City

Bristol City boss Michael Skubala told BBC Radio Bristol:

"A very hard night, we knew that but we're really down, we're really disappointed because when you get to 80 minutes you want to get something out of the game - you want to win the game if not get a draw.

"The sucker punch is we've got nothing out of the game against a good team but we put ourselves into situations at times which we didn't need to."

Big night for Cardiff keeper Nathan Trott, who began his career with the Hammers academy.

Not only did he pull off three brilliant saves to deny Taty Castellanos, Mohamadou Kante and then Tomas Soucesk what would have been the winner in the final seconds, the sweeper-keeper also had a huge influence on his side's attacking play.

Only Will Fish (43) had more completed passes than the keeper and his mighty kick almost led to Yousef Salech adding a fourth goal for the Bluebirds after the break.

Wolves

Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto to Sky Sports:

"I think we deserved the win, we created a lot of situations from inside the box, a lot of crosses from the left, we had a lot of people in the box but didn't attack the ball in the right moments.

"We dominated the game but with one shot they scored.

"At half-time we talked with the players and in the second half they were more reactive, more intense with the pressure.

"We showed a lot of character and it was an important win for us."

On match-winner Sean Neave, on loan from Newcastle:

"Sean is a young guy, his first steps in professional football, he has taken the opportunity I have given to him. He is humble and has the right mentality.

Wolves dominated every category against Bristol City but it was still quite a close call considering.

Just look at that xG difference.

In the first half West Ham were looking all right, but went 3-0 down...

... and then they won the second half by going through the middle and finished the game settling for inswinging Jarrod Bowen crosses from the right flank with that wand of a left peg.

At half-time, with the greatest respect to Jarrod Bowen, this would have been blue and green and very much on the right flank.

Second half Bowen pretty much put his team on his back, played far more centrally and was involved in everything good West Ham did.

He added another two assists to his haul for the season and the other goal came from his clever pass which was flicked on.

Maybe Scott Parker needs to think about moving him inside and deploying, say, Manor Solomon and Edvin Austbo out wide.

Just a thought, Scott.

The last time Oxford United beat Reading in the Thames Valley Derby the threat of the Millennium Bug was keeping many of us awake at night back in November 1999.

Aaron Ramsey's Oxford United are three points off the top, with a game in hand, after a 10th game unbeaten and a fifth clean sheet in that span.

The 2-0 win over Thames Valley rivals Reading left the U's level on points with Stockport while their visitors are four points back.

Speaking of chances... Wolves' Sean Neave only had eight touches and he scored with two of them.

Talk about being in the right positions.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Kim Hellberg, meanwhile, is feeling pretty disheartened by the lack of chances his side had against Wrexham this evening.

Remember what these stats looked like at half-time? No? Okay, let us remind you...

Scott Parker said and did SOMETHING at half-time, along with making a triple substitution, which really ought to have the West Ham fans sleeping easier tonight (except for the 3,200 who are in Cardiff who probably won't be back in time for bed).

40% of you responded that you felt Scott Parker was the right man for West Ham United in our poll before kick-off.

Feeling vindicated by that comeback? Surely after that second half you are...

Wolves

Wolves left-back Kieran Trippier speaking to Sky Sports about Sean Neave, who he also played with at Newcastle United:

"I know what's he all about. He deserves every moment because I've seen how hard he works both at Wolves and Newcastle.

"I always look after him behind the scenes as senior player. I couldn't be happier."

On their second half comeback:

"It's about staying together at half-time and we did. Now we are second in the league."

Glorious chaos.

Six points from 1st to 10th after 14 games - nearly a third of a season.

Middlesbrough will rue the missed opportunity to open up some daylight as they went down 2-0 at Wrexham, who put some distance between themselves and the drop-zone.

Wolves are up to second, just a point back, after leaving it late to win at Bristol City, now just one place ahead of Wrexham.

West Ham might have lost, might have won, but ended up drawing to remain eighth, now only five points off the top, while the Bluebirds are still 18th, five points off the relegation zone.

The fans were booing the substitutions at the time but they've made all the difference.

And it's all great scenes in the away end now.
