Sean Neave signed for Wolves on a season-long loan from Newcastle on deadline day in September
On-loan teenager Sean Neave came off the bench to score his first two goals for Wolves and seal a comeback 2-1 victory against Bristol City that sent the visitors second in the Championship.
Scott Twine had given the Robins the lead with a stunning first-half free-kick that curled into the top corner, although City created little else in attack for most of the match.
Wolves, by contrast, enjoyed most of the possession and ended the game with more than three times as many shots as City - but could not find a way through until the 82nd minute.
Home goalkeeper Brad Collins made a series of saves while Cameron Pring's perfectly-timed tackle denied Rodrigo Gomes, before Neave equalised with an easy tap-in after Adam Armstrong's effort was palmed into his path.
The 19-year-old then doubled his tally seven minutes later, heading in following a Kieran Trippier free-kick, to stretch Wolves' unbeaten run to five games.
The defeat is 15th-placed Bristol City's third in a row at home and continues their inconsistent campaign.
Wolves went into the game with three wins in their previous four Championship matches but struggled to turn all of their pressure into many clear chances.
Armstrong was played in early for the visitors' best chance of the half but his low shot was easily saved by Collins, while Rafiki Said fired straight into the Robins' keeper's arms and a Fer Lopez effort went way off target.
Bristol City did not have a touch in the Wolves box until the 28th minute when Rio Cardines' cross whipped across the goal and beat Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa, only for Lorent Tolaj to head over the bar.
Then when Twine was brought down by Jean-Ricner Bellegarde a few minutes later on the edge of the box, he directed the set-piece perfectly for his fifth goal of the campaign and 18th direct free-kick goal since December 2020.
Wolves continued to pin City back during the second half and really should have found the back of the net much sooner than they did.
Ladislav Krejci played a lovely through-ball from his own half to Armstrong in the box, which Collins kept out at the near post, and Said's follow-up hit the side netting.
Gomes was gifted a one-on-one because of a misplaced pass by the hosts but Pring raced back to make an excellent last-gasp tackle in the box.
Collins then palmed away a Krejci header that was going in at the near post as Wolves racked up the efforts on goal.
But it was Neave who made the breakthrough in the closing stages when Trippier crossed the ball into the middle of the box and while Armstrong's effort was saved, it fell straight to the young striker, who had a simple finish.
With the momentum with them, Wolves continued to press on and a Trippier free-kick was nodded on by Krejci into the path of Neave, who got his second of the night to secure all three points for the visitors.
Middlesbrough's defeat at Wrexham, who Wolves face on Saturday, means Cesar Peixoto's team are only one point off top spot.
