Unbeaten Charlton Athletic had to come from behind to earn a point at The Hawthorns as they battled their way to a draw with resurgent West Bromwich Albion.

After an awful first half, Albion looked like they might be on their way to a second successive home Championship win on 59 minutes when Baggies left-back Callum Styles powered home a sumptuous 20-yard left-foot volley.

But the Addicks equalised 10 minutes later when Miles Leaburn nodded back for Tyreece Campbell to drill home a leveller from eight yards.

Although their winning start to the season has come to an end, Nathan Jones' Charlton remain third, having lost their leadership of the early season table the night before, with Albion in seventh.

It was a drab first half at The Hawthorns as, fresh from their opening three straight Championship wins, hard-working Charlton closed down the game and silenced the home fans to barely a murmur.

Addicks keeper Okonkwo was the only one of the two custodians tested, diving to his right to parry Isaac Price's right-foot curler before being alert enough to cut out a dangerous low Jayson Molumby cross at his near post.

But it all suddenly livened up just before the hour mark when Albion went ahead with a stunner.

Okonkwo opted not to come to collect Price's right-wing corner and the ball was half cleared by a defensive header - but nobody had kept an eye on home left-back Styles lurking just outside the edge of the box.

He had time to take a touch before lamping a superb 20-yard left foot volley that left Okonkwo clutching at thin air.

But Charlton had other ideas – and they equalised on 69 minutes when the newly introduced Joe Rankin-Costello played a neat one-two with his fellow sub down the left and swung over a cross. Big Leaburn leapt high just like his old man used to and Campbell lashed home his nod-down to the relief of the loud section of visiting fans.

James Morrison's Albion are at home again on Saturday to Watford, followed by a Wednesday night trip to Derby County.

Charlton boss Jones faces a return to one of his former clubs with a Saturday lunchtime trip to Stoke before the return to The Valley for a London derby with QPR four nights later.

West Bromwich Albion boss James Morrison told BBC Radio WM:

"We're going to get those games when we're dominant - and then they get one chance and they score.

"But let's not lose sight of how far we've come. I can see where we're tying to get to.

"I actually feel we're ahead of where we should be – but we need to get back to clean sheets.

"Callum Styles was at his best. And I'm pleased for him as he's been knocking at the door with shots like that."

Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones told BBC Radio London:

"We didn't play well first half. We kept giving the ball away and we didn't build well.

"But we came into the game and were much better. We made positive changes.

"We changed shape – and maybe we could have gone on and nicked it.

"But 10 points from the first four games, we'll take that. I'm relatively pleased about everything."
