Burnley's winless start to the season continued despite coming from behind to earn a point against Middlesbrough.

Aidan Morris' lovely finish from just outside the box sailed past Clarets goalkeeper Max Weiss to give Middlesbrough the lead in the first half.

But the hosts hit back in style after the break when Ugo Raghouber struck home from outside the box with a stunning finish.

Neither side could find a decisive goal in the latter stages however, with Burnley still without a win in 90 minutes in all competitions this season.

The Clarets' one victory this term came in their season-opening Carabao Cup tie against Notts County on penalties last month, while their most recent league win at home came way back in October 2025 when they beat Leeds in the Premier League.

Middlesbrough's season has panned out much more favourably than Burnley's so far and they arrived at Turf Moor with four wins from five this term, and they were almost ahead inside three minutes.

A long ball from goalkeeper Radek Vitek had the Burnley defence fooled, allowing Will Lankshear to get in on goal, but his resulting effort was placed wide of the mark.

After 22 minutes, Boro did take the lead and in emphatic fashion, as Sebastian Berhalter teed up fellow US international Morris, who duly struck home from 20 yards out for his first goal for the club.

Morris could well have doubled his tally shortly before the break when he unleashed a long range shot which cannoned off the post and, right on the verge of half-time, Riley McGree slid the ball wide after Lankshear had played the ball across the face of goal.

The hosts came out after the break in fine fashion, however, and were rewarded for a promising early start through Raghouber's finish.

The Frenchman's sensational curling left-footed strike was his first goal for the club and came as he made a run from midfield unopposed, with Middlesbrough failing to close him down.

With their tails up, Burnley could have taken the lead soon after when Dastan Satpayev got in behind the Middlesbrough defence but he fired straight at Vitek.

Yet the match petered out as time wore on, with neither side able to find a winner, meaning that Burnley finish the midweek round in the bottom three while Middlesbrough are fifth.

Burnley boss Nicky Hayen told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I was really satisfied with the response in the second half and this is what we want to see every game.

"We are creating a team, we are building a team, we feel that there is a new, different energy, but the reality is that we are not there yet physically where we want to be.

"We have a lot of potential and it's a matter of time before we arrive there. What I can ask from the fans is for a little bit of patience because we are going to change things around."

Middlesbrough boss Kim Hellberg told BBC Radio Tees:

"It's mixed. It's two feelings. You go away to a team that's just come down from the Premier League and with quality players that they have, even if they haven't got the results they want at the start of the season but they were at home and very strong.

"In that sense it's a strong point but over 90 minutes I thought we were the better team here and it's tough that we haven't come away with three points especially when the first half was that good.

"The second half we didn't create as many chances and they had a bit more power. It's a mixed feeling but it's one point and we have to go again."
