Chris Appleton

Chris Appleton is best known for one of the world’s most celebrated celebrity hairstylists, known for creating some of the most recognisable looks in the entertainment and fashion industries.

Born in Leicester, Chris discovered his passion for hairstyling as a child - styling his mum’s hair and becoming fascinated by the way a new look could make someone feel confident. He began working in a local salon at just 13, before travelling to London in his spare time to assist established artists, attend classes and develop his skills.

His career took a major step forward in 2010 when, aged 27, he won the BBC’s Young Hairdresser of the Year competition. This opened the door to magazine and fashion work, where he began working with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne.

After moving to London, Chris began working with Rita Ora in 2016, creating looks for campaigns, red carpet appearances and her tour. His growing social media presence eventually led him to move to Los Angeles, where he quickly established himself as a sought-after celebrity stylist. A breakthrough moment came when he worked with Christina Aguilera on the US version of The Voice, creating her now-iconic lavender hair look.

Chris has since built an impressive celebrity clientele, including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and Sofia Vergara. He has also appeared on The Kardashians, saying that Kim Kardashian is an amazing friend and mentor. Chris is also credited with creating Ariana Grande’s signature high ponytail.

Chris was inspired to try dancing after watching Jill Halfpenny win Strictly with her unforgettable Jive. He even took a few dance lessons himself, but stopped because he didn’t think he was good enough. Now he’s back on the dance floor - and the Jive is firmly on his Strictly wish list!
