Leicester City midfielder Conor Chaplin said there are "loads" of positive things the club can take from their Carabao Cup second round defeat by Premier League Ipswich Town.

Chaplin, a summer signing from the Tractor Boys where he won promotion three times in five seasons, made his Foxes debut in Tuesday's tie at Portman Road.

Despite Leicester's 3-1 loss, Chaplin said they should not be too down after having 57% of possession and 22 shots against the top-flight side.

"We definitely don't want to be a football club, a team or a group of staff that is happy with any defeat but I think we can really be proud and take huge, huge steps from the way we played," he told BBC Radio Leicester.

"We've come to a Premier League side with amazing players, and controlled a lot of the game.

"I think the learnings will be the final pass - we need to be more ruthless but it's the hardest part of the game

"The bravery we showed and coming away to a place like this it was top and something to build on - we've set the stall there now."

The Foxes have made a disappointing start following relegation to League One last season after taking one point from their first two games in the third tier under new boss Russell Martin.

"I don't think we've been at where we want to be at for the first two league games," Chaplin added.

"I think that's been evident. But that's something [the Ipswich performance] to come back on and say 'this is the level'.

"But that will take time with different players and learning each other. I know it's hard to say that but it's a brutal honest truth.

"It's our job on the training pitch to make that time as short as possible."

Leicester travel to MK Dons hoping to secure their first league win of the season on Saturday.
