The Bouskell Park Ice House

Bouskell Park in Blaby was the site of a medieval village, but its history goes back further than that to the Roman era. At the far end of the park is a grade II listed building called "The Ice House" - built in 1843. 'Ice Houses' were in use before the invention of the fridge, and this one would have been used by the residents of Blaby Hall to preserve food and cool drinks, even throughout the summer. After a recent restoration project 'The Bouskell Park Ice House' has now been reopened in all its former glory.
