This year's Top 5 Stories
2003 started with David Sneddon at No.1 and ended with Gary Jules. It was that kind of year. In between, you had Justin resurrecting the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce butt-shaking the plaster from the ceiling, and Sean Paul helping former naughty film actress Blu Cantrell score a massive hit, before going on to guest on every record this side of Coldplay. And that was just the charts, THIS is the news...

The Darkness

The Darknessleft a trail of shriek-shattered wine glasses in their wake, and single-handedly brought back old school heavy metal. And plunge-fronted cat-suits. And the thumbs-up sign. And being from Lowestoft. And we liked it! Seems like some crazy dream now, dunnit?

Jemini

Jemini may claim that their stage sound wasn't working, and that they did their best in a tricky situation. But nothing can change the fact that they're the UK's only Eurovision Song Contest entry to be returned home without scoring any points whatsoever. The SHAME of it!

Cheryl Tweedy

Cheryl Tweedy found herself in court after a drunken row with a cloakroom attendant in a nightclub. She was found guilty of Actual Bodily Harm, but cleared of the charges of racially-aggravated assault. And yes, that really WAS two years ago!

Evanescence

Evanescence came from nowhere to the top of the charts with their song 'Bring Me To Life'. Suddenly, guitarist and group co-founder Ben Moody (such an apt name, donchathink?) decided nowhere was a nicer place to live, and quit. Tsk!

Tatu

Tatu In 2002, the idea that a pair of young Russian girls pretending to be lesbians could take over the charts would've been dismissed as the stuff of a pop perv's wildest dreams (no dream jokes, puh-LEEZ!). And yet Julia and Lena did exactly that. They came, they sang, they snogged, they went away again.

CalvinWe sent our hot temptress of an interviewer to probe the boys from S Club on snogging and stuff. They blushed. Quite a lot.Read The Interview
