  1. game, set and match

Game, set and match - Auger-Aliassimepublished at 20:15 BST

    Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 6-1 Davidovich Fokina

Felix Auger-Aliassime, eventually, is through to the quarter-finals!

The Canadian had six match points - two in the fourth set and a further four in an epic eight-minute Alejandro Davidovich Fokina service game at 5-0 in the fifth - before finally converting the seventh on his own serve with an ace.

He did go down 0-30 when serving for the match but a pair of fabulous passing got him out of that sticky spot.

A big celebration but then a few cross words exchanged between the players at the net. I'm not sure what that was about?

Anyway, a match lasting almost four and a half hours, a titanic tussle and, ultimately, Auger-Aliassime gets over the line and will face Novak Djokovic for a place in the semis.

  2. 'Such a low-margin game plan'published at 20:14 BST

    *Sinner 6-3 2-2 Mochizuki

    Colin Fleming
Former British tennis player on BBC One

Shintaro Mochizuki has the game plan to maybe nick a set here. It is just that it is such a low-margin game plan against such a great player. It is hard for him to execute it consistently, but I don't think he can change anything.

He cannot afford to stay on the baseline longer or stop going into the net. He has to look for the shorter balls or look off both wings to take the ball early down the line.

He has the game plan, it depends how consistent he can be with it.

  3. Mochizuki holdspublished at 20:14 BST

    *Sinner 6-3 2-2 Mochizuki

Shintaro Mochizuki is serving well now and Jannik Sinner is unable to get any returns in play in a hold to love.

  4. Sinner holdspublished at 20:11 BST

    Sinner 6-3 2-1 Mochizuki*

Jannik Sinner eases to 40-0 as Shintaro Mochizuki lets a couple of unforced errors slip, before wrapping the game up with another big first serve.

  5. Mochizuki holdspublished at 20:09 BST

    *Sinner 6-3 1-1 Mochizuki

Groans from the crowd as Jannik Sinner misses a forehand at the net before Shintaro Mochizuki serve and volleys to perfection.

Mochizuki then secures a hold to love as Sinner smashes a forehand wide.

Decent start to the second set for the world number 151.

  6. Game and fourth set - Struffpublished at 20:08 BST

    Hurkacz 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (2-7) 5-7 0-0 Struff*

Elsewhere, Hubert Hurkacz has just returned to court two after leaving to receive some treatment for an injury when down advantage at 5-5 in the fourth set.

Hurkacz said he wouldn't be able to continue if he didn't get that treatment. He lost the final point of that game against Jan-Lennard Struff and has just stepped up to serve.

The Pole isn't moving great and does appear to be in discomfort and has been broken to hand over the fourth set.

Hurkacz is asking the umpire if he can leave the court to go and get changed but he's been told he can't. He's not too happy and they are going into the fifth set.

  7. 'I don't know how you define a great, but Sinner certainly is'published at 20:07 BST

    Sinner 6-3 1-0 Mochizuki*

    Andrew Castle

Shintaro Mochizuk had his chances, but Jannik Sinner holds in the opening game of this second set.

He is playing a man who was on a 30-match winning streak coming into the French Open, which creates something of a legend. I don't know how you define a great, but Sinner certainly is.

While he is the huge underdog here, only 150 men's players worldwide can lay claim to being better ranked than Shintaro Mochizuki.

Yet, up close, the ferocity with which Jannik Sinner is hitting the ball - the speed, the power, the precision - is just on a completely different level to his opponent entirely.

The Centre Court crowd are rallying behind Mochizuki, who continues to dig in as best as he can, but unless the qualifier can change something up it feels like there's only going to be one outcome.

  9. Sinner holdspublished at 20:06 BST

    Sinner 6-3 1-0 Mochizuki*

Shintaro Mochizuki goes toe to toe with Jannik Sinner in a rally but skews a forehand wide when well positioned.

Sinner then wraps the game up with an ace.

  10. Sinner saves break pointpublished at 20:04 BST

    *Sinner 6-3 0-0 Mochizuki

Shintaro Mochizuki brings up break point with a powerful backhand down the line but can't make it count as Jannik Sinner nails another big first serve.

  11. Deucepublished at 20:03 BST

    *Sinner 6-3 0-0 Mochizuki

Jannik Sinner is facing a bit of resistance here as Shintaro Mochizuki works his way to deuce.

Sinner gets out of trouble with a sixth ace of the match, but plants a backhand into the net next point.

Deuce again and some murmurs of encouragement from the crowd for Mochizuki.

  12. 'Mochizuki has to start taking some risks'published at 20:01 BST

    *Sinner 6-3 0-0 Mochizuki

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

A beautifully constructed point by Shintaro Mochizuki.

He has to start taking some risks. If there is a ball that lands a little short, he has got to take it early and come forward. I know Jannik Sinner has some terrific passing shots, but that's the only thing he can do to try to take time away from his opponent and move forward.

Otherwise, he is going to be pushed off the baseline far too quickly.

  13. Double break for Auger-Aliassimepublished at 20:00 BST

    Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 5-0 Davidovich Fokina*

Felix Auger-Aliassime runs around a second serve and hammers a forehand winner - double break secured.

The third seed is closing in on the quarter-finals again and another comfortable hold, in which he sends down ace number 24, means he can almost taste it.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has battled hard but the 22nd seed is surely done now?

  14. Game and first set Sinnerpublished at 19:57 BST

The crowd are encouraging Shintaro Mochizuki when they get the chance and a nice volley at the net gets their approval.

He can't build on it as a double fault gifts set point to Jannik Sinner and the Italian makes it count as Mochizuki can't get a deep forehand over the net.

It's been comfortable for Sinner so far.

  15. Auger-Aliassime breakspublished at 19:53 BST

    Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 3-0 Davidovich Fokina*

Felix Auger-Aliassime shakes off his disappointment from the end of that fourth set and swiftly takes control of the fifth.

The Canadian third seed holds to love and then brings up three break points. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina saves the first two but can do nothing about the third.

Auger-Aliassime proceeds to hold to love again. Break consolidated.

  16. 'This will all be big news in Japan'published at 19:52 BST

    Sinner 5-3 Mochizuki*

    Andrew Castle
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC One

I thought what Shintaro Mochizuki said in his pre-match interview was interesting. He said: 'He is going to try to destroy me, but it is my job to be disruptive and make him uncomfortable' - and I thought that was really smart.

If you're going to play tennis, this is a really good place to do it. This will all be big news in Japan.

  17. Sinner holdspublished at 19:52 BST

    Sinner 5-3 Mochizuki*

The bounce on Jannik Sinner's serve is causing a lot of problems for Shintaro Mochizuki, and the Italian top seed holds comfortably to love.

Mochizuki is now serving to stay in the first set.

Centre Court is treated to some tennis from a bygone era as Shintaro Mochizuki serves and volleys his way to an entertaining point.

Jannik Sinner threatens, but spoons a forehand long with a chance to take the game deuce as Mochizuki holds.

  20. 'He hasn't got the reach to get his racquet near it'published at 19:47 BST

    Sinner 4-2 Mochizuki*

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

Wow, it is a big serve isn't it?

There really isn't much Shintaro Mochizuki can do when Jannik Sinner is just pummelling 130mph out into the corner. He hasn't even got the reach to get his racquet near it.

The forehand speed difference is 77mph compared to 64mph and the spin difference is enormous, both in favour of Sinner.
