'Taken control' is relative against a side like Fiji, who can turn things around quickly.

The home side win a penalty and kick to the corner as they look to respond swiftly.

    Josh Adams

An absolute shocker for Fiji from a wasteful Wales kick!

Selestino Ravutamada tries to let the kick go over the dead ball line to get a scrum around halfway but the wing is caught out.

Josh Adams doesn't give up on it and dives to ground the ball.

Superb stuff by the wing, who mirrors the effort of Rob Howley in the 2004 Heineken Cup final for Wasps.

Wales have got their four-try bonus point and taken control.

Converted try: Fiji 10-17 Walespublished at 44 mins

    Rhys Carre, con Dan Edwards

Fast feet from Blair Murray gets Wales into the 22.

They work the ball to the left and Tomos Williams goes close.

Wales stay calm and then Rhys Carre powers over, celebrating with the ayatollah in tribute to Cardiff City here at the home of the Bluebirds.

Edwards slots the conversion and Wales strike first after the break.

Blair Murray is flattened when fielding a grubber through by Ravutaumada but Wales clear well.

The start of the second half has been played between the 22s.

Can Wales cause something of an upset to get the Nations Championship off to a flying start?

If Wales can put the pressure on Fiji defensively and force them to attack on Wales' terms, then there will be opportunities for Wales to force turnovers.

It's very easy to be dragged into the open game with Fiji, but they went back to their strengths and their structure.

It's not pretty but Wales are here to win, and they found a way to work their way into the game and put Fiji on the backfoot.

Fiji have been full of confidence from the first kick and they have just built how they wanted to play and they've created a lot of chances.

But they are giving Wales opportunities and they have to take them when they get them, because we have seen that Fiji can hurt you from anywhere on the pitch.

The key area has been Wales' 22 for Fiji.

There have been three or four penalties from them around that area but it's their decisions that's letting them down.

They are creating opportunities, but if they give Wales more opportunities then it could get away from them.

The stats on S4C have Fiji as making 469 metres to Wales’ 66. They have made 104 carries to Wales’ 32, and racked up 25 offloads.

Still, at least the Welsh scrum is going well...

Jac Morgan is a big moments player, he can win you a Test match and the moments he has are so impactful in games.

The team talks I'm guessing will be chalk and cheese, if you're Fiji you will be saying that you're one pass away from scoring two or three tries.

From a heart and effort perspective from Wales it's great, but they need to be more accurate with the ball.

The opening round of the Nations Championship got under way in Christchurch this morning, where New Zealand edged out a weakened France 34-32.

That was followed by Japan beating Italy 27-10 in Tokyo and then there was a cracker in Sydney where Sam Prendergast's conversion of Tom Clarkson's late try earned Ireland a 33-31 win against Australia.

The Wallabies could have won it with the clock in the red but Ben Donaldson missed a tough long-range penalty.

This fixture is followed by what should be a cracker in Johannesburg where South Africa will look to overpower an England side who had a miserable Six Nations (16:40 BST).

The final fixture is in Cordoba as Argentina - Wales’ hosts next weekend - take on Scotland (20:10 BST).

I think everyone is going to need a break after this first half.

Fair play to Wales, I thought they were a bit soft defensively at the start but they need to just keep playing in the Fiji half because they will make mistakes.

All level after a fascinating and at times frantic first half that has certainly tested Wales' defence.

Fiji will feel they should have their noses in front after blowing a fair few chances in the 22.

No Wales can't strike... they instead have to defend.

Turnover ball Fiji go from one end to the other, with Rayasi goes charging into the 22.

Wales scramble but are pinged for offside.

    Armstrong-Ravula will go for goal.

Another big Welsh scrum - they have complete dominance in that department.

They win a penalty that Dan Edwards bangs to the 22.

Can they strike again before the break?

Nearly all the penalties Fiji have given away have been attacking, brave ones from contact areas.

Maybe 5 to 10 years ago it was not getting back onside or hits off the ball, so there has been a great progression.
