Hull draw third consecutive home game after being held by Brentford

Hull City drew for the third successive home game in the Premier League as they were held by Brentford.

The Tigers took the lead in the first half after they were awarded a penalty when Aaron Hickey fouled Tim Iroegbunam, with Brentford making a mess of playing out from the back. Oli McBurnie stepped up to fire home from the spot.

But Brentford pushed for the equaliser and were deservedly level in the 63rd minute when Dango Ouattara took advantage of poor defending to strike from close range.

That mobilised Hull into action once more and they had the better opportunities to grab the winner in the remainder of the game.

Mohamed Belloumi showed good feet inside the box to create space, but sent his shot into the side-netting while Mohamed-Ali Cho's low strike was kept out by the foot of Caoimhin Kelleher.

But there was to be no winning goal as Hull secured a point that maintains their unbeaten start at home in the Premier League, while for Brentford they remain undefeated on the road so far this campaign.

Brentford are sixth in the standings following this result, while Hull are 10th.

Hull City analysis: Positive performance but wins needed

Hull will be disappointed not have got the win on home soil but this was a positive result and performance after the concerning loss at Fulham last time out.

They looked dreadful in that game, failing to have a shot on target and managing just 139 passes throughout the entire match.

They were much more competitive against a Brentford side who have started this season really well and arguably could have taken all three points but for some poor finishing.

Aside from Belloumi and Cho's chances, Joe Gelhardt also spurned a good opportunity to snatch it late on when he fired wide despite being picked out by a good cross in the middle of the box.

Hull will take the point and improved display but after winning their first two games on their return to the Premier League they are now winless in six and know they will need to start picking up victories soon to avoid getting sucked towards the bottom of the table.

Brentford analysis: Chance missed to claim first away win

It is often said that if you win your home games and draw the away ones then you will likely have a decent season, and Brentford are pretty much doing just that at the moment.

The Bees have claimed impressive home wins against Tottenham and Chelsea and are unbeaten on the road in a strong start to the season, sitting just four points off the top four.

The only concern is that they have drawn all four of their fixtures on the road and this was the first time this season they had failed to take the lead in a match.

With 14 attempts on goal in this match Brentford fans will likely feel this was a missed opportunity to get that first away win, but ultimately their side rarely truly worried Konstantinos Tzolakis in the Hull goal.
