Dan Neil ran the show from the start. On the ball he never lost a pass, simple things, he was doing everything right. I've not seen a performance like that since Barry Ferguson in the way he controlled the midfield.

He dominated in and out of possession.

He popped up with goals, not just any goals, top class finishes. It was an outstanding performance.

James Penrice had a storming afternoon for Rangers - up and down the pitch with incredible energy. He was everywhere.

Scotland are not short of options at left-back but surely he's knocking on the door for a place in Sebastien Pocognoli's first squad, which will be revealed on Tuesday.

Rangers midfielder and player of the match Dan Neil tells Premier Sports: "Brilliant. It was a great team performance. We fully deserved the victory out there.

"I don't score many goals. I thought the big man [Kevin Kelsy] was excellent today.

"In the last few games we've done well without the ball. Today we wanted to use the crowd and get after them - the lads executed it perfectly.

"We all believed in the plan. The gaffer is good before games and he made sure we were ready to run through brick walls.

"That togetherness and cohesion has really come on recently."

These two will go head-to-head again at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership next Sunday.

Rangers will have a full week to feel good about this result, but Celtic need to regroup for Thursday's Europa League opener at home to Ferencvaros.

Rangers fully deserve this statement win. Celtic deserve what they got, nothing.

A huge day for Rangers, Derek McInnes and these long-suffering home supporters.

It wasn't just a win, a semi-final place earned. It was a show of dominance that they will now look to sustain.

Celtic will no doubt respond but they face so many questions after a display was way off what was required.

They've been so dominant in Scottish football for so long but today they've just been a shadow of themselves.
