Burnley's winless start to the season leaves them bottom of the Championship which is very much unexpected given the Clarets are benefitting from parachute payments and have achieved four promotions to the top flight since 2014.

So is new boss Nicky Hayen to blame? Fan Natalie Bromley thinks the Belgian has "been handed the most impossible of tasks" after a late appointment and a "disastrous" summer transfer window.

However, Hayen is not off the hook either.

"We've got very muddled team selection, players playing out of position, players who clearly are not performing well and not working in certain structures still being picked again the game after," Bromley said.

"He's very famous for high press, we haven't seen any of that yet.

"The players look like they don't know what they are doing, the shape and the tactics look disjointed and there is no energy."

A fair few lost years in non-league football and to the brink of extinction or feasting on the riches of the Premier League.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since Wrexham and Burnley last faced-off in the EFL, well, 26 years is a long time.

The Red Dragons are on a seemingly unstoppable course to the top tier, from where their opponents have just arrived.

A stumbling start appears to be behind Wrexham with an impressive win at Millwall followed by a draw at early leaders Swansea steadying any thoughts of unrest in north Wales.

Back-to-back clean sheets have also restored their 'difficult to beat' reputation, just to make the Clarets already ominous task that bit harder.

Burnley may have dropped from the Premier League, but they are yet to bounce under new boss Nicky Hayen.

Their last league victory was on 11 February while their seven successive away defeats is their worst run for 16 years.

Hayen has rung the changes with a complete overhaul of his squad but is already under pressure to justify those decisions, while the loss of striker Zian Flemming to Ipswich has not helped things.

Burnley need a result, Wrexham are unlikely to be hospitable hosts.

Swansea boss Vitor Matos has backed Zan Vipotnik to pick up where he left off last season by getting of the mark for the current Championship campaign.

The Slovenia international scored 25 goals in all competitions last season and was the Championship’s top scorer with 23.

But he’s yet to score this season and has found himself behind Adam Idah in the striking pecking order in recent games.

"I think if someone knows how to score goals, it's him," said Matos.

"So I think it's a matter of scoring. Before that he contributes a lot for the other parts of the game. It is coming, then it's just a matter of scoring and he will score for sure."

But for Southampton's well-documented misdemeanours this would be eighth against first, although the Saints' recent form suggests it will not be long before they are bothering the business end of the table.

For Swansea it is about how long they can maintain what is on the verge of being an historic start to a league season.

Victory on the south coast this evening would make it three successive away league wins to start a season for the first time, while it is 440 minutes since they conceded a Championship goal - impressive stuff.

Southampton's opening day stumble at Watford is but a distant memory already, with a four-game unbeaten run erasing the four-point deduction incurred by those previously mentioned shall we say, errors of judgement.

Since Tonda Eckert became Southampton boss no-one has taken more than their 44 home points in the Championship so this will be a big test of Swansea's away record and promotion credentials.

It is set up nicely.

Three Championship clubs play Premier League opposition in the third round of the Carabao Cup this evening.

Millwall are hosting Newcastle, while Lincoln and Middlesbrough are at Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively.

There's also an all-League One tie between Leyton Orient and Bradford City, with a place in the last 16 at stake.

Swansea City have the chance to extend their early lead at the top of the Championship with a win at in-form Southampton tonight.

But defeat for the Swans and a sizeable victory for West Ham United at Bolton could see the Hammers jump from eighth place to the summit.

Burnley's search for a first victory of the season takes them to Wrexham.
