  1. Mood in the camp 'very relaxed'published at 20:45 BST

England v Costa Rica (Wed, 21:00 BST)

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel on the tone in the training camp: “It’s been very relaxed. We’ve had afternoons off for the players where they can reconnect - they can go out and see friends and family. We had an evening yesterday where friends and family were invited. We had a really lovely barbecue, and there’s been amazing energy in the camp.

"That’s exactly what we had in mind. It should be relaxed - the focus will come by itself. The tension will just rise naturally, especially when we change location to Kansas and then have four days to prepare for the first game.

"Naturally, once we go into the tunnel, it will be match by match after that. The atmosphere has been relaxed and it's important."

  3. 'We are still building Saka up'published at 20:41 BST

England v Costa Rica (Wed, 21:00 BST)

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel, asked about the Arsenal players in the squad after a busy season: "We still have to take a little bit of care for Bukayo [Saka] who had an injury in March and carried it through to club. He made himself available at the end of the season and did so brilliantly but he was managed in between matches; that continues a bit at the moment. We are building him up.

"Noni [Madueke], Declan [Rice] and Ebs [Eze] are 100 percent available.

"We just came from training and everyone was involved including Bukayo. We have to take the decision in the afternoon on who starts and how many minutes we give.

"They [the Arsenal players] came in very good spirit and shape. I feel them as proud and confident. They know what they did. They had a little period where it was in doubt and they overcame it. It meant a lot to them. They understand they went toe-to-toe with the best team in the world against Paris Sant Germain and lost in the shootout.

"They came in the best spirits and they are happy with that."

England v Costa Rica (Wed, 21:00 BST)

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel on managing John Stones' fitness and whether he will start against Costa Rica: "I need to double check with physical department. We always get a second opinion from our performance team about what he did through the week, what he was actually exposed to at Manchester City and not playing this season. This will all play a role when we take a decision.

"Everyone deserves to be in the starting line-up tomorrow. We have strong four central defenders - with Jarell Quansah even five. But good news is Stone is ready to go."

England manager Thomas Tuchel on vice-captain Declan Rice and leadership in the team: “We have a leadership group of five or six players - you can call them captains without armbands.

"Declan and Harry [Kane] are the two guys with the armband. Harry is our captain - no doubt about it. And Declan is our second captain. When Harry wasn’t in camp and didn’t play against Wales, we had a choice, and it was a very quick one from me to give it to Declan.

"He has a high football IQ. He takes care of the formation and structure, the adaptation, and the rhythm of our game. He’s had two outstanding seasons with Arsenal - one of their main players in their Champions League campaign. He’s one of the best midfielders in Europe at the moment, full of confidence. That’s why he is my vice-captain."

England v Costa Rica (Wed, 21:00 BST)

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel, asked if England are one of the favourites to win the tournament: "How many favourites are there?

"No, we're not the top favourites. We can't be because we haven't won it for so many years. There are proven winners in the tournament with more success. We compete, we dream big and we know what it takes. Responsibility is on the effort and that is where the focus is.

"We see ourselves as competitors and challengers. We want to go all the way but I don't think we are the heavy favourites."

"Then, we have a chance to load the players a day later in a match behind closed doors in our training facility, then pre-camp is finished. We then start our adventure two days later in Kansas.

England manager Thomas Tuchel on John Stones: “He feels very, very good. He feels fully competitive. He hasn’t played a lot of minutes - not as many as we would have liked - but he was available all season and that’s a big difference. He wasn’t injured much, he has trust in his body, and most importantly, he did very well for us when he was in the camp.

"He offers a lot as a player at the highest level and is a defender of the highest quality. He can step into midfield, he’s confident in build-up, and he can switch between different formations fluidly. He’s a proven winner - he knows what it takes to win.

"On top of that, he’s a very nice person - friendly and humble. That’s the full package. I’m very happy he arrived in a calm state of mind. The best news is that he’s training every session - he’s ready to go.”

England defender Marc Guehi on Eberechi Eze and support he has received since missing his penalty in Arsenal's Champions League final defeat by Paris St-Germain: "He’s a fantastic player - I’ve seen it from day one. He’s someone who has overcome so many adversities. To be here is a fantastic achievement for him. I’ve seen his development at Crystal Palace.

"He’s a true gent - someone you love to be around - and a fantastic player.

"I congratulated him on the Premier League win. I didn’t really watch the Champions League final, but I obviously heard about it. It’s important to remind everyone of the good things they’ve done. It’s nice of the Arsenal fans to do that."

  18. 'Win and give a good account of ourselves'published at 20:12 BST

England v Costa Rica (Wed, 21:00 BST)

    England

England defender Marc Guehi, asked if the goal is to win the tournament: "Every single person in this room knows what the goal should be. I don't think I need to go too much in to that - but we definitely want to give a good account of ourselves, approaching every single game with the belief and with the style of play that we can hurt teams. Showing the togetherness on the pitch and giving the England fans performances that they should be proud of."

England v Costa Rica (Wed, 21:00 BST)

    England

England defender Marc Guehi on fellow defenders Ezri Konsa and John Stones: “I’d say they’re different, but both have a lot of quality. They both come from managers and styles of play that suit them. They’re both ball-playing centre-halves and really good defenders. They read the game really well.

"I’d say they’re both leaders too - they lead by example in the way they train and behave. They’re fantastic players and a big asset to the team.”
