  4. Postpublished at 15:04 BST

    Aston Villa 0-0 Brentford

Woops. An early wobble for Brentford as Jannik Schuster leaves Caoimhin Kelleher a little short with his pass back to the keeper and Villa almost capitalise.

It looks very strange at Villa Park with that North Stand being refurbished.

  9. 'We had to restore our identity'published at 14:58 BST

    FT: Arsenal 2-1 Leeds United

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to TNT Sports: "Before the game we talked about two things. One, the challenge ahead because Leeds had not lost in the Premier League and it was going to be really tough. And second one, to restore our identity and be ourselves again, regardless of the context of the match.

"We weren't pleased against Brighton and today was an opportunity to put that right. We certainly reacted in the manner we expected."

On Leeds: "They are extremely well organised, they have very physical [players], they are committed in everything they do."

On Arsenal's equaliser changing the game: "When you play 12:30 at home and you go 1-0 down, you have to restore a lot of things. The energy is one of them. We had a incredible response, you could sense the crowd, the energy changed immediately. The finishers come in and made a huge difference to help us win the game."

On the substitutions: "We bring a lot of leadership on in those three players. Goal threat, players that can win duals, can play forward and penetrate against this high press.

On Bruno Guimaraes' goal: "The timing, the connection and the execution of it, it was a beauty."

Cole Palmer's family are being hosted pitchside after he signed a new contract until 2034.

Chelsea are keen to mark the occasion before kick-off against Bournemouth, with understandable delight among senior figures at the club following the renewal.

I'd like to think some Aston Villa fans would agree with me that when the rumours started that Emi Martinez was going to go to Manchester United...since then has not been the best in the world.

He wasn't keeping clean sheets as often as he was prior to that. Chelsea signing him, he was not going to be the difference-maker given his current form, so he has to step up.

  12. Postpublished at 14:55 BST

    Buckle up, folks.

The teams are gathering in the tunnels up and down the country.

    The Premier League is back.

    YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!

  13. 'Cherries have been unlucky'published at 14:54 BST

    Chelsea v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Sutton's predictionsImage source, BBC Sport

Bournemouth have not won yet under Marco Rose, and they are also without key midfielder Alex Scott for a while as a result of his injury on international duty.

I feel like the Cherries have been a bit unlucky with their results under Rose so far, because they have conceded some costly late goals, but Scott's absence is a huge blow for them.

Chelsea are already turning into a team that are a nightmare to predict - defensively they have got huge issues, but they have got such a talented attack.

Some people thought they would be up there challenging for the title but they look far too inconsistent to do that.

Anything could happen in this game and I was tempted to say Bournemouth will get something out of it.

But Cole Palmer will be rested and refreshed after his injury so I am going to base my prediction on how I expect Chelsea's frontline to click.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-1

  14. Poyet would 'party' if Black Cats win 2014 League Cuppublished at 14:53 BST

    Sunderland v Brighton (15:00 BST)

Gus Poyet who was manager of Sunderland in 2014 when the Black Cats lost to Manchester City in the 2014 League Cup final, on City's potential punishment for breaches of Premier League financial rules: "I was talking the other day to people at Sunderland. If the punishment is to give titles to other teams, I will make a big celebration in Sunderland for sure. There's no doubt about it."

  15. How Gross is proving all-time bargainpublished at 14:52 BST

    Sunderland v Brighton (15:00 BST)

    Gross

Can Premier League player of the month Pascal Gross, 35, keep up his remarkable start to the season today?

Nobody has been involved in more top-flight goals than the Brighton man this season - six in five games.

And in fact since Gross first joined Brighton nine years ago, only three players have created more chances in the division than his 562 - Bruno Fernandes, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.

And that is despite Gross spending 18 months of that time with Borussia Dortmund.

Not bad for a man who has basically made Brighton £3m profit in transfer fees.

  16. James picked up small injury in trainingpublished at 14:51 BST

    Chelsea v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Nizaar Kinsella
BBC Sport Chelsea reporter at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea captain Reece James picked up a small injury in training yesterday and misses out.

Jamie Gittens is also not involved having injured his ankle over the break.

Yet, the returns of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra to the squad mean there is more good news than bad.

  17. 'The mentality was bouncing back'published at 14:50 BST

Arsenal goalscorer Bruno Guimaraes, speaking to TNT Sport: "It feels unbelievable. I felt in the last game against Brighton we were not at the level. Today the mentality was bouncing back.

"This is my first official game at home. It feels unbelievable to score and it's an important goal, three important points. Great finish and I am very happy.

On scoring two goals for Arsenal: "Great feeling. For me it is important to give my best and give a little bit of a headache to the manager. I'm just happy to score my first goal here, an important goal."

On having a point to prove to Mikel Arteta: "Yes, I have been proving [myself] in the Premier League for the past five years so of course it's a new challenge for me, its always important to play. The most important thing for Bruno is to go to the pitch and play the best football, I am very happy with that today."

On another victory for Arsenal: "We know the Premier League is very tough. Leeds have a great team, it was a tough game, I'm glad we can get the three points. Every time we get the three points is very welcome for us."

  18. Palmer signs new Chelsea contract until 2034published at 14:48 BST

Huge news coming out of Stamford Bridge earlier today.

Cole Palmer has signed a new contract on improved terms until 2034.

The England international, 24, was already under contract until 2033 but is being rewarded for his performances following his emergence as one of Chelsea's key attacking players.

The renewal is the latest in a series of contract extensions at Chelsea designed to reward established and emerging players while maintaining the club's wage structure.

Joao Pedro also signed a new contract until 2034 in August, followed by Pedro Neto signing a new six-year contract last month.

Palmer has played more minutes than any Chelsea player this season but missed England's recent international break, prompting Thomas Tuchel to say he "misses too many opportunities".

  19. 'Extended international break a bit strange'published at 14:47 BST

    Ipswich v Fulham (15:00 BST)

    Ipswich Town

What do you do when you have three weeks between games?

"We got some great work into the ones that stayed, they were excellent," explained Ipswich boss Gary O'Neil about the work on the training ground involving players who did not go away on international duty.

"Some real good fitness stuff, some tactical stuff, it was a really good block for them. It feels like a very long time since we last played, it’s a big stop in the season.

“It was a long break, it was very early in the season to pause for three weeks so it feels a bit strange, but we’re ready to go."

Ipswich have lost four of their past five league and cup games yet could end the day in the top eight if they see off struggling Fulham.

  20. Time for Villa to kick-start season?published at 14:45 BST

Aston Villa v Brentford (15:00 BST)

Who would have thought at the start of the season that it would be Brentford sitting in the Champions League places and Aston Villa languishing near the bottom of the table? The Bees have continued their upward trajectory from last season while Aston Villa seem to be on a bit of a slide.

They did get their first win of the season on the board in their match against Tottenham just before the international break.

Can they keep the momentum going against unbeaten Brentford?
