Many classical artists over the years have made recordings that in hindsight might be seen as ill-advised, whether through a dubious attempt at 'crossover', or simply through an unsuitable choice of repertoire.
Norman Lebrecht looks these recordings and discusses them with some of the leading record producers of the past 40 years to try and discover how and why they get made. Contributors include Thomas Z Shepherd, Steven Epstein and Herbert Breslin.
