As the middle child of the Brookfield Archers, Josh suffered sibling rivalry at the hands of older sister Pip, and proceeded to pay this forward when his younger brother Ben was born, taking an instant dislike to him. He worried needlessly that Ben would replace him in his parents’ affections. As they grew up the three siblings got on well enough, though Josh has often felt the other two have grabbed more of their mum and dad’s attention.

Josh’s determination to make a mark coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit stood him in good stead when he established a successful egg business at a young age. However in early 2026, rattled by what he perceived to be his disinheritance from the family farm, he had a yearning for more and went off to Patagonia on a fact-finding mission in the hope of fast-tracking his way up the farming ladder.

Arguably more cynical and capable of throwing in a surprise than his two more stolid siblings, there’s often a sense of uneasy anticipation around what’s next for this black sheep of the Brookfield family brood.
