Víkingur Ólafsson plays Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat

From Amsterdam’s Dutch Summer Concerts, pianist Víkingur Ólafsson joins the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali for Beethoven’s majestic Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, “Emperor”. Plus, the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, directed by violinist Michael Waterman, performs Brahms’s String Sextet No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 18, a work of warmth, lyricism and youthful energy.

At the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Ensemble Correspondances, directed by Sébastien Daucé, performs Michel-Richard de Lalande’s Dies irae, bringing the drama and grandeur of French Baroque music to life.

From the Edinburgh International Festival, the Pavel Haas Quartet performs Korngold’s String Quartet No. 2, Op. 26, a richly lyrical work from the composer best known for his film scores.
