Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5 in B flat from the Netherlands

From the Dutch Summer Concerts in Amsterdam, pianist Alexandre Tharaud joins the Philzuid and conductor Duncan Ward for Gershwin’s exuberant Rhapsody in Blue. The Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, directed by violinist Michael Waterman, performs Bach’s Contrapunctus 1 from The Art of Fugue, while the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Santtu-Matias Rouvali take on Prokofiev’s powerful Symphony No. 5. Also from Amsterdam, Trio Pantoum performs Dvořák’s much-loved Dumky Trio.

At the Utrecht Early Music Festival, mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik joins Le Poème Harmonique, directed by Vincent Dumestre, alongside tenor Serge Goubioud, tenor Martial Pauliat and baritone Igor Bouin, for Vivaldi’s Nisi Dominus in G minor.

And from the Edinburgh International Festival, Benjamin and Salamon Eredics explore the rich musical traditions of the Balkans and Transylvania, performing the folksongs ‘Rastanak’ (Farewell) and ‘Elment a madárka’ (The little bird has gone).
