Episode 9
JB and Saf uncover treasures in Manchester, from Harry Rutherford sketches to a bamboo hall stand in need of attention, hoping to help Caroline raise funds for her husband’s care.
Auctioneer James Broad and restorer Saf Fakir travel to Manchester to help Caroline, whose life was turned upside down when her husband Nick was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Now in a care home, Nick’s absence has left Caroline alone in the family home they built together, surrounded by a lifetime of memories. With her sister-in-law Heather by her side, she’s now ready to face the emotional challenge of sorting through Nick's collections.
JB uncovers family heirlooms and fascinating finds, from vintage toys and enamel signs to a remarkable collection of sketches by celebrated Manchester artist Harry Rutherford. Meanwhile, Saf works his magic on a well-loved bamboo hall stand and a broken vintage sign that needs some TLC. He’s determined to restore them to their former glory.
Every item sold brings Caroline a step closer to easing the cost of Nick’s ongoing care and to finding peace as she begins a new chapter of her own.
