Jan has always built her life around the people and place she loves: her husband Martin, their two sons Gary and Paul, and the thriving south Wales guest house they ran together. Teenage sweethearts Jan and Martin spent 43 happy years side by side, travelling the world whenever they could, until Martin was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and sadly passed away in 2006. Losing him shattered Jan’s world. Family remained everything to Jan, but in 2025 she was struck by unimaginable tragedy once again when her son Gary died.

With the support of her closest friend Lynda, Jan is now focused on securing a future for her 14-year-old granddaughter, Liliah, who faces growing up without her devoted dad. To help create a nest egg for her, Jan has turned to the auctioneers to organise and sell some of her treasured possessions.

Auctioneer Izzie Balmer sets out to uncover the strongest sellers, discovering G Plan armchairs, musical boxes, Royal Albert dinnerware, Waterford glassware and a beautiful collection of Jan’s jewellery. Many of those pieces had been gifted by Martin over their years together, and letting them go will be deeply emotional, yet Jan feels the time is right for the items to bring joy to new homes while helping to provide for Liliah.

Meanwhile, restorer Robin Johnson faces his own set of challenges. A very weathered copper weathervane needs major soldering and polishing to cut through layers of verdigris; a birdhouse with a rotting base requires a complete rebuild; and a tired garden bench demands a full sand-down and stain. With only one day to complete it all, Robin may have taken on more than he bargained for.

When auction day arrives, Izzie and Robin are determined to raise as much money as possible for Jan and young Liliah. Will Martin’s much-loved gifts to Jan help pave the way for granddaughter Liliah’s future?
