One 28-year-old woman dey detention, according to di Kano State Police command.
Dem arrest am on top allegation say she set her co-wife, Firdausi Musa, and her two pikin on fire for Hotoro area of Kano metropolis.
Firdausi Musa and her two children, dem identify dem as five-year-old (girl) and three-year-old (boy). Di husband too get burns as e try to rescue dem.
Di victim tell BBC News Pidgin say her co-wife dey harass her and wan beat am, but she decide to comot for di house.
“At first, my co-wife show say she wan beat me, so I comot go my younger sister place.” she tok.
According to Firdausi, she no know any reason why her co-wife go do am like dat, sake of say she no get any problem wit Maryam.
“I no do her anything, since I come into di house we never ever get any quarrel.”
She add say she bin don marry before and she get two children, and she don spend only 12 days for her new husband house.
Firdausi say, as she see say her co-wife wan beat am, so she comot go her younger sister place.
She come call her husband tell am say im wife wan beat her, and say she don leave di house for her, make e come meet her dia.
“I call my husband tell am say im wife wan beat me, and say I don leave di house for her.”
She later come go back di house, and her husband come back around 11pm.
Wen her husband reach house around 11pm, she explain everything wey happun, and dem go back inside bedroom. She add say na di time di co-wife come bring petrol, pour am through di window, light match, come close di door.
“When my husband come back, I explain everything wey happen, then we go inside bedroom.”
Firdausi add say “She [co-wife] come bring petrol, pour am through di window, light match, come close di our room door.”
Di victim say she no do her co-wife anything and say since she enter di house, dem never get any quarrel.
She beg Kano State govment make dem help her for her children medicine wey dem say cost 300 thousand naira ($219) as dem dey face financial wahala. She also say she want justice for wetin her co-wife do her.
Di accused Maryam Muhammad dey police custody as investigation still dey go on on di reason for di attack, wey dem say come from marital jealousy and previous threats.
