Australia beats England to win T20 World Cup

England's T20 hopes are over after Australia won their seventh title at Lords.

Australia won by seven wickets with only three out.

A huge 28,887 people watched Sunday's final at Lords, a record crowd at a T20 World Cup.

Australia's Beth Mooney hit a half-century and was made player-of-the-match.

England lost the toss and batted first.

Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt scored an unbeaten 58 runs while Freya Kemp added 44 runs.

The two managed an unbroken 80-run partnership together (44 not out).

England ended on 150-4.

Georgia Voll was bowled out by Lauren Bell in the second over, but it did nothing to dampen Australia's confidence.

Australia's Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield reached an 100-run partnership. Mooney departed on 64 runs, while Litchfield ended on 48.

Then a moment of controversy when Ellyse Perry batted for Australia.

Sophie Ecclestone's catch was deemed by the umpire to have hit the ground and Perry was called back.

The England crowd were angry over the decision but in the end, the winning runs come in the next over.

Australia have won the Women's T20 World Cup for the seventh time, beating England by seven wickets.

England's next game is soon with their historic Lord's Test against India taking place on 10 July.
