1964: James Stagg - The Meteorologist Who Delayed D-Day

Captain James Martin Stagg, the chief meteorological adviser who persuaded US General Eisenhower to change the date of D-Day, spoke to Richard Dimbleby in 1964.

The Allied invasion was moved from the 5th to the 6th of June, due to Stagg's advice. The events discussed in this interview are the focus of a new film called 'Pressure', where he is portrayed by actor Andrew Scott.

Speaking to the BBC, Scott explained, "Group Captain James Stagg may not have been the most charming person, but I think he had a huge amount of humility in the face of nature".
