What a win for John Higgins.

OK not the same style of win as it was against Ronnie when it was all big breaks, frames won in one visit.

But he's come through a struggle of a match - he can play any type of snooker. He's just an unbelievable competitor.

John Higgins a worthy winner playing great snooker. I will be surprised if he does not lift the trophy this year.

Even sat in the bowels of the Crucible, you can hear the huge roars that greet John Higgins as he reaches his 12th World Championship semi-final.

In doing so, Higgins, 50, becomes the oldest player to reach the last four since Ray Reardon reached the same stage, aged 52, in 1985.

He's done it again. At nearly 51.

From 9-6 down, John Higgins books his place in his 12th World Championship semi-final.

Neil Robertson's long wait for a return to the one-table set-up goes on.

But for Higgins, a meeting with Shaun Murphy awaits. Could this be world title number five for the 'Wizard of Wishaw'?

All the shots are coming out now.

Double on the last red, brilliant long yellow.

The yellow wipes its feet on its way in, as the saying goes.

But now the red is unmissable - and so is the pink to follow.

    This should be a formality...

    Could that be the pot?

Clean, crisp red into the green pocket from John Higgins.

A colour and one more red to leave Neil Robertson needing snookers...

It's getting twitchy. It means so much to players to get to that one-table semi-final.

Another mistake from Neil Robertson and it could be his last.

Tries to cut in a long red but ends up cannoning into others.

Leaves a get-able but far-from-easy red for John Higgins... which he misses! Again though leaves nothing simple.

Luck plays such a big part in the game of snooker.

If you take a risk, miss it and get the ball safe, it makes such a big difference.

And John Higgins has a huge slice of fortune, the cue ball sticking right to a red after he misses it and leaving Neil Robertson zilch...

  15. Postpublished at 22:53 BST 29 April

Robertson tries to dislodge that safe red early doors but no dice.

Might have been wise to get a few more points on the board before trying that.

He misses a long red, his deficit now cut slightly to 54-15.

Neil Robertson puts all his eggs in one basket with a risky cut on a red - and he gets it. Eggs safely intact.

Lot of work to do still with green, blue and one red safe - but a chance for the Australian.

What a shot. John Higgins picks out a narrow gap between pink and blue to knock in a long red. Superb. The lead up to 54-0 but still 75 on so Higgins puts the green safe as insurance.

The Aussie plays a safety and develops the black in the process.

It leaves John Higgins a tempter - which rattles in the jaws and stays out. But he's left little easy...
