With Wu Yize, there's no ball safe, he doesn't care where he leaves the cue ball and his positional play is different to other people. He backs himself every time he goes to the table.

You can sit in the chair and think you're going to get a chance in a minute, and then bang, he clears up.

It's hard to play against, it's like when Judd Trump was absolutely flying and playing powerful snooker, it's very similar to that.

A monstrous session from Wu Yize and obviously we know full well that Mark Allen had his chance in that last frame, he'll be distraught to miss the black.

He was in prime position - OK, maybe a little bit awkward cueing but it wasn't really that much of a problem.

I think he's been under a lot of pressure and therefore it makes everything a little bit harder.

If he turns this around, what a player Mark Allen is, and it would be no disgrace if he didn't because sometimes you've just got to go "this guy's on fire".

    But every session is different.

There's miles to go and Mark Allen is very capable of coming out and beating somebody 6-2, so it's a long way from being over.

But that was a fabulous session from Wu Yize.

Unfortunately Allen just not good enough tonight and has been exposed with poor safety. Wu potting everything and setting an exceptionally high standard. Allen needs a miracle from here!

  7. Wu takes four-frame lead at end of sessionpublished at 21:49 BST 30 April

    Wu 6-2 Allen

Four frames on the spin for Wu Yize, who will take a 6-2 lead into tomorrow's second session.

That was some exhibition of potting from the 22-year-old Chinese sensation.

Still a long way to go - 17 is the target for victory - but he's made a fantastic start as he bids to reach a first world final.

    Wu 5-2 Allen

Mark Allen gives away four points before hitting a red at the second attempt.

Wu Yize has a chance to pot it in the middle and he does, getting on the black in the process.

The last red is not a gimme down the top cushion, but it's potted superbly and that could be that for this frame.

    Wu 5-2 Allen

Some more sensational potting puts Wu Yize into the lead in this frame, the last one that will be played in this session.

He's 44-42 up with two reds left on the table - but a missed red signals the end of his latest visit.

He gets a bit of good fortune too - the cue ball runs behind the blue to snooker Mark Allen.

How big will that miss be?

Mark Allen knocks in a break of 42 but tries to power in a black to make an angle to get on the next red and it stays up.

He's got an 18-point lead and the colours are all up the baulk end of the table.

The thing that impresses me so much about the top players is they can be frozen out of a match for some time but when they come back to the table, it's like they've never left.

The first shots are key but when they're into that stride and rhythm, they're away again.

    Wu 5-2 Allen

Well then, Wu Yize's safety shot leaves an easy starter over the corner pocket.

Will Mark Allen take advantage of this chance and halt Wu's momentum?

  13. What's the highest break of the tournament so far?published at 21:36 BST 30 April

There have been four breaks of 140 at the Crucible Theatre and that is the highest of this year's World Championship so far.

Mark Allen has done it twice, while Barry Hawkins and Shaun Murphy have done it once.

    Wu 5-2 Allen

Wu Yize is at it again but, after potting a thin black, he isn't on the next red and so he plays safe with a 24-point lead.

If you're Mark Allen, don't panic.

One of the great things he's got is that patience - you're not always going to be in this position, where somebody is knocking them in off the lampshades.

Obviously he understands that this kid is a bit special, but what Mark can do is dig in - he has to draw on the confidence from how he played against Barry Hawkins.

Wu is brilliant and entertaining. Those frames were great. But you can't play like this until Monday night and not slip up. It's too risky.

Wu Yize has got absolutely guaranteed belief in the fact he can pot from distance.

Other players may want to get a lot closer but he absolutely rates himself as the best potter, perhaps on the planet at the moment - well we're saying that anyway.

The past two frames of snooker there have been very, very special.

The breaks he's made - when he got to the table, it didn't look like either of them was on.

    He's a very special talent.

  19. Wu guarantees overnight leadpublished at 21:27 BST 30 April

    Wu 5-2 Allen

Cries of "Wuuuu" as Wu Yize clinches the seventh frame with a break of 64.

Some of the pots in these past two frames have been beyond belief.

He'll be in the lead overnight - but by two frames or four?

When I was 10 I was mesmerised by Ray Reardon potting balls for fun. At 63 I am enjoying the same feeling watching Wu Yize, brilliantly enjoyable, thank you.

    Andy, Bristol

Wu reminds me of a young Stephen Hendry - virtually all out attack and very little safety - brilliant

    John, Devon

Wu looks like he has another frame wrapped up with another excellent break, with pink and black out of commission for virtually all of it.
