On LA 2028: "I am really looking forward to LA. I'm thanking God to be able to do this. I think LA will be a great place to end my career and I say that having said I will end my career about five times before. But LA is the goal and anything beyond that is a blessing."

Matthew Bostock has been speaking to TNT Sports after winning gold for the Isle of Man in the 40km points race: "It means the world to me, to my family and everyone back at home. My first memories of cycling were watching [Mark Cavendish] win the Commonwealth Games 20 years ago. It feels full circle and kind of surreal.

"At the start, you're just trying to do well. Halfway through, I thought 'it's in my hands now'. Obviously the mistakes are costly if you're leading and you get it wrong, so I was definitely nervous, especially the last 30 [laps]."

On support from his team-mate Ben Swift, who finished 13th: "We just wanted to be on the front foot. He is one of the nicest professionals that I have ever met. It's honestly been a pleasure, the past few months to work with him. To have him support me at the end is kind of surreal."

The Isle of Man have now equalled their record medal tally at one edition of a Commonwealth Games with two, achieved in 2006 and 2010.

Bostock's gold follows the island's first ever athletics medal with David Mullarkey's 10,000m bronze.

Nah, that is brutal for big Mark Stewart.

Perfectly positioned for a podium place, played a blinder, works himself into second for the final lap, only to be beaten by the one man in the contested field he couldn’t afford to be.

Absolutely sickening.

So, Matthew Bostock wins gold with 83 points. Australia's Oliver Bleddyn takes silver with 80 and New Zealand's George Jackson gets the bronze medal on 61 points.

Mark Stewart also finished on 61 points, but Jackson was in a better finishing position in the final sprint and that's what decides it.

What a moment for the Isle of Man.

That is just their fourth-ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Matthew Bostock has written himself into the island's history books.

Heartbreak for Scotland's Mark Stewart. He was in the bronze-medal spot before the final sprint, but George Jackson of New Zealand powered forwards at the last minute to gather 10 points and finish third.

The Isle of Man's Matthew Bostock is going for it! He's sped forward and will defend his lead from the front.

All three Welsh riders in this race are called William so essentially it's the most efficient day for the Welsh supporters ever.

Three for the price of one.

It's Will Perrett still in with a shout of a medal in sixth place as Will Roberts and Will Salter trail in 10th and 14th with not long left.

Wales' William Perrett is launching an attack. If he can lap the rest of the field it would move him into the podium places.

The other riders aren't having it.

Three more points for Matthew Bostock. That's him seven points clear of liver Bleddyn in the silver-medal position.

Mark Stewart wins another sprint! Another five points moves him into the bronze medal position on 55 points.

The Isle of Man's Matthew Bostock remains in the lead with 75 points.
