I'm racing teenagers, they can drop so much time from heats to finals, so you just never know what's going to happen. So I just went in and swam my own race and I'm grateful that it got me a gold.

"Throughout my whole career, my relationship with swimming has been quite turbulent, and it's only really since Paris that I loved it again like I did when I was 12 or 13, so it's really special."

England's Oliver Morgan spoke to BBC Sport after winning a silver medal ahead of team-mate Luke Greenbank in the 200m backstroke: "I'd have liked to have challenged Pieter Coetze for gold but I really can't complain with a silver medal.

"It's the second individually now for me and it's just confidence knowing that I've got that background in me to do a good 200m backstroke, so bring on the 100m now.

"That rivalry (with Luke) is now bringing British backstroke and English backstroke through and it's really quite special to be at the forefront of that.

"My whole family was stood at the end there after the medals, which was really special. They've been on this rollercoaster with me for my whole life and they've got me to this moment and it's really quite special to share this moment with them."

Scotland's Angharad Evans speaking to BBC Sport after winning gold in the women's 100m breaststroke: "A Commonwealth gold medal will take a long time to calm down from but it's a really special moment. Touching the wall, hearing that crowd, then the roar when I was on the podium was just... you can't even dream of moments like that. It was unreal. I was holding it together until I saw my family and that was just such an emotional moment.

On competing for Scotland:

"I had the choice of England, Wales or Scotland but Scotland felt right, it felt like home. They made me the athlete I am today and I dreamed of getting a gold and having the crowd roar and this is that but 100 times bigger. It's such an intimate venue. It's not the biggest crowd I've competed in front of, but it's the loudest and the most passionate. I felt their energy and love especially in the last five metres when it hurt.

"I love that feeling right there and you can't make that up. It's a moment that will be with me for the rest of my life."

Tyler Melbourne-Smith, by the way.... sure, he started his final leg of that race with a lengthy lead over Duncan Scott but he kept his nerve under pressre from the great man to clinch bronze for Wales. Well played, fella.

Australia get the job done in the end, but Max Litchfield finished things off to make sure England get silver in the men's 4x200m freestyle final.

Australia's Edward Sommerville had pulled out in front, but England's James Guy has somehow clawed his way back and he sends Max Litchfield out first for the anchor leg.

He claimed his first Commonwealth medal last night in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay and now he's hungry for more.

The men's 4x200m freestyle final will finish proceedings at Tollcross Swimming Centre this evening.

Duncan Scott - the poster boy for these Commonwealth Games - is back this evening after winning gold in the men's 200m individual medley on Friday.

Scotland's most decorated Commonwealth athlete is joined by George Smith, Matthew Ward and Evan Jones.

Tom Dean, who finished behind Scott to claim silver on Friday, is representing England alongside James Guy, Gabriel Shepherd and Max Litchfield.

I started eating a couple of wraps, then an apple, just after they started. They're still going and I'm long since finished and looking for my next snack to graze on. Remarkable endurance.

England's Luke Greenbank talking to BBC Sport after his bronze medal in the 200m backstroke: "It was a really tough race. In terms of the time I wanted more and I expected more, but it's a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, I'm not going to be too upset with that.

"I'm really happy, just glad to be on the podium. It's almost a bit of a relief, I haven't medalled at a major championships since 2022 so it's great to be back up there."

We're 400m into the women's 1500m freestyle final and Australia's Lani Pallister is half a second under world record pace.

There's a long, long way to go but can she come close to American great Katie Ledecky's 15:20.48 world record that she set in 2018?

Australia's Cameron McEvoy is the favourite in this one. He's the world record holder in the men's 50m freestyle with a time of 20.88 seconds.

How close can he get to that?
