I'm at the men's +110kg final, the last event in weightlifting at these Games and there's a raucous crowd in for this one.

Representing Wales? The aptly named James Wales.

Or Lieutenant James Wales to be precise, a serving Royal Navy commissioned officer.

They've saved the biggest until last here tonight.

All nine competitors have just lined up on stage and I was quite surprised they all fit!

Australia's Tara Neyland is flanked by Morgan Newberry of England and Nicole Murray of New Zealand for the last in this batch of medal ceremonies.

Newberry has had a day, world record set, world record broken, world record set, beaten to gold.

Advance Australia Fair will be played for a second time this evening.

We are getting under way in the Armadillo with the men's +110kg weightlifting final.

There are nine athletes with three home nation hopes.

We've just finished speaking to Neil Fachie here and it's fair to say the wee man is emotional.

No Scottish athlete has more gold medals than the six the Aberdonian has.

"I had essentially retired after Paris," he told BBC Sport Scotland. "I walked away from cycling. If it hadn't been a home Games, I wouldn't be here. But I thought 'let's try, go say our farewells.'

"I didn't expect to be winning a gold. Genuinely, I didn't. So this is incredible. One of those memories I'll never ever forget. Home crowds, national anthem, gold medal with a guy that's just just a good mate... it doesn't get better than that."

Green and pleasant, not green and gold...

The crowd enjoyed that.

New Zealand and Australia have received their medals, now it's the turn of England's victorious team.

Will Tidball, Henry Hobbs, Charlie Tanfield, Ethan Vernon and Josh Charlton squeeze onto the podium and look proud as punch.

Jerusalem will follow.

Australia claimed the silver with New Zealand presented with their bronze medals after beating Wales.

Lizzi Jordan and her pilot Sylvia Misztal have been awarded with their bronze medals after the tandem sprint earlier.

Australia's Jess Gallagher and pilot Jacqueline Mengler-Mohr received their silvers while Emma Foy and pilot Jessie Hodges of New Zealand claimed gold.

We've just spoken to silver medallists James Ball and his pilot Matt Rotherham in the mixed zone.

The pair are proud of their race but Matt says he's gutted to not get to sing the anthem.

"I've spent three days learning Land of My Fathers but hopefully I'll get to on Saturday"

It will be a mouthwatering home nations clash in the women's team sprint tonight with Olympic champion Emma Finucane going for her first Commonwealth gold alongside Lowri Thomas and Rhian Edmunds.

The Welsh trio have already upgraded the bronze they won in Birmingham four years ago to at least a silver as they qualified with a new Commonwealth Games record time of 46.972 seconds.

They'll race against England for the gold in the women's team sprint.

The English team features Sophie Capewell and Katy Marchant, with whom Finucane won Olympic gold in Paris in 2024 as well as Rhianna Parris-Smith.

Despite not yet having a Commonwealth gold, Finucane insists there's 'nothing to prove' at the Games.

England are down to three but have nudged ahead and the lead is now over half a second in the final kilometre.

Australia are nibbling away at this lead and have taken the lead midway through the race.

They have dropped a rider though, whereas England have four left.

England have built a 0.3s advantage in the opening 1,000m... a quarter of the way there. Can they hold onto it, or even build on it?

Josh Charlton has been replaced by Will Tidball for this final, joining Henry Hobbs, Charlie Tanfield and Ethan Vernon in the England team to face Australia in this gold medal final.

They started fast but Wales couldn't hold on and New Zealand roar back to win by 1.7seconds.

The Wales team of Rhys Britton, Rory Gravelle, William Roberts and William Salter gave it their all, beating their qualifying time by well over a second, but just couldn't hold on.

Into the final four laps and New Zealand have edged ahead. They have all the momentum.

Both teams have dropped a rider with 1250m to come... they are almost neck and neck.

Over halfway and Wales still lead but New Zealand are battling back.

The Wales team of Rhys Britton, Rory Gravelle, William Roberts and William Salter finished a couple of seconds behind the Kiwi time in qualifying earlier but have a healthy lead of half a second in the early stages of this bronze medal race.
